We are doing this because children in rural Shanghai aren’t getting a proper education which they need to break the poverty cycle or become a contributing member of Shanghai. This can cause many problems such as a hole in society. The society can lose its balance or stability when part of it does not have an education too. Without an education, other Global Issues can grow and become larger. Illegal immigration, digital divide, terrorism, poverty and much more are all effected by education. Not only is education a reason for many of these, but it is a solution too. If everyone had a proper education, there would be less illegal immigration and poverty. These things occur in Shanghai so we think we have a power to help put an end to it.
The message- Why should people be informed about this issue?
We need to raise awareness about education in rural China for many reasons. First of all, literacy is declared a human right which means that every human in the world has the right and that it is a scandal that the right keeps being violated daily. Secondly, many people don’t know that there are parts of Shanghai that are cut off. Many people imagine Shanghai as a developed city but it still has many places that are in need. Those places don’t get the education they need so they never break out of the poverty cycle. When more people know this is happening, the problem can be resolved faster and more efficiently. If they don’t take notice, then it will only grow. “The purpose of education is to replace an empty mind with an open one.”
